1. I'm trying something new this year by not assigning homework. Unfinished work may be sent home to
complete.
2. Reading 20 minutes a night is encouraged but not mandatory.

STAAR
1. If my child fails the STAAR test will they fail 3rd grade?
Failing the STAAR test will not result in failing 3rd grade. Grades are the only factor in your child failing.
2. What subjects are tested?
The subjects tested are math and reading.
3. How long is the test?
There are around 50 questions on each test. The reading test has six passages.
4. How much time do they have to take the test?
They have exactly four hours to take the test.
CBA
1. Are CBAs graded?
Yes. CBA's are graded.
2. Can my child redo a CBA?
No, students may not redo the tests.
3. Are CBAs a good indication on how my child will do on the STAAR test?
Yes, they are a very good indication on how your child will do on the test.
GRADES
1. Can my child redo assignments?
Your child will be given the opportunity to redo any paper that has a REDO on it. A 70 is the highest grade your child can receive on a paper
that was corrected.
2. Will my child get points taken off for misspelled words?
Your child will only get points taken off if the word they misspelled is in the question. They will also get counted off for misspelling words on
spelling assignments.
3. Will my child get points taken off for sentences that do not start with a capital letter or have the correct end punctuation?
Yes, I will take off one point for each mistake.
4. In math, does my child have to show their work?
Yes, your child must always show their work.
Devices
1. Can my child bring their device everyday?
Yes, your child may bring their device everyday.
2. What rules do you have concerning their device?
1. Students may only get on apps. that are preapproved by me.
2. If a student is caught on an app. that was not approved I will it take away.
3. They are the only person to "drive" their device.
